Headache/Migraine

Migraine
Its surprising how often triggers in a persons diet or envirnment can be a cause of migraine. One of the first steps is to identify these and remove them from the diet. Common triggers are bananas, orange juice, missed meals. I exhort all patients with headaches to decaffeinate for at least 3 months. This in itself can be a very useful strategy. During this stage of decaffeination I support patients with allopathic and homeopathic treatments to lessen the effects of withdrawal.
Chronic Daily Headache
More than 50% of chronic daily headaches are said to be due to overuse of analgesics and abortive medication. Headache sufferers are more prone to developing medication overuse headache (MOH). The cause of MOH is not fully understood but avoidance of the offending medication once identified can really help.
Tension Headache
This can be due to imbalance from the musculature in neck and /or back. Flat feet and uneven leg length can be a cause for tension headaches
TMJ disorders
Tension in and around the tempomandibular joints, whether as a post whiplash experience or due to some other traumas. Bruxism is often associated. Sometimes its best to see Dentists that specialise in realigning the TMJ joints
