Restorative Medicine

Health is a complex system of biochemical interactions taking place in the regions of billions per second

Whatever keeps these reactions balanced keeps us healthy

An example of Restorative Medicine at work....A Clinical Case Study

John was 17 when he went to Edinburgh to study engineering. Up to this he had no medical problems. He was well cared for emotionally and physically as an only child in the comfort of his parents home in upper class London. His nurturing was exemplary and he ate and exercised well.

After 2 years in Edinburgh he had a major falling out with a good friend. A misunderstanding lead to an argument etc and as a result he became withdrawn and fell out with a group. He lost confidence. His response to the event was noted by his tutors and as result he was referred to the university counsellor. After some sessions his counsellor diagnosed depression and referred him on to a psychiatrist for further treatment.

At this stage his parents intervened. They felt that the psychiatrist would prescribe SSRI's and they were not keen to have their son labelled as such so early in his career.

As a result we carried out some stool and urine tests via Individual Wellbeing Diagnostic Laboratories.

These tests identified the nutritional deficiencies that had accumulated since he had begun to student life in Edinburgh where an irregular diet of intermittent junk food and booze had caused problems. It was these nutritional deficiences that set him up to have difficulty in coping with what should have been a routine emotional upset. By targeting these biochemical deficiencies he made an excellent recovery in about ten weeks with the use of Amno Acid , Vitamin and Mineral supplementation.

The other element to this case was that the patient was party to the programme and rationale all the way and as a result of this inclusive approach he realised how easy it is to blame one system when in fact it was a biochemical inefficiency of another system that was at fault. We managed to avoid the use of prescribed medications.

I view this approach as a way of restoring a biochemical system to its former state .
